Rudy’s Holiday 2019

Role: art direction, production & design
Prop Styling: Mandy Kehoe

Breaking away from a typical holiday color palette and tinsel, we urged customers to stop wasting hours browsing for the “perfect gift” and get something that their friends and fam would actually use. (No more travel cocktail kits please.)

With a real stamp of lazy approval, we displayed these 8x10s on metal easels on product shelves in all Rudy’s shops.

We combined products into a single, giftable package with a lower environmental impact than past gift boxes. Sold in shops, online, and at Urban Outfitters.

Working with local Seattle company, MiiR, we made these versatile tumblers for managers as a gift. We ended up liking them so much that we put them shops and online for purchase.

A give-back element of our holiday season was making a calendar where 50% of proceeds went to Emerald City Pet Rescue. Each month showcased a different pup that “works” at a shop. We hosted an event in the Pioneer Square shop where Emerald City brought dogs for adoption, while Rudy’s cut hair and sold framed, gold-foiled dog prints to raise more money for the cause.

Lip balm

We produced long-living lifestyle photos for Rudy’s new Lip Balms. One for you and one for whoever you want to kiss—the Citrus and Coconut flavors live between the hyper-gendered lip products on the market. Taking photos where you’d find lip balm lying around, it’s easy to picture the product in your pocket.

Instead of tutorial videos of Rudy’s latest goldilocks pomade, we piqued our customer’s interest through relatable lifestyle scenarios. Shot in LA, we created a hero video and three vignettes of life-is-hard moments.

25th anniversary

Role: design & illustration

Worked within the Rudy’s creative and marketing team to create a video, shop signage, merchandise, web updates, and social posts to celebrate 25 years of (not just) hair.
